This tool is being ported to the new interface and will be back shortly.
  1. Pick a format tool from the pill bar: CSV ↔ JSON, HTML Table, XML, YAML ↔ JSON, SQL, or Markdown Table.
  2. Paste or type your data into the input panel — or build a table manually with the Markdown Table Generator's editable grid.
  3. Click Convert, Format, Parse, or Generate (depending on the mode) to see the result instantly in the output panel.
  4. Copy the result to your clipboard with one click. Nothing is uploaded — every conversion runs locally in your browser.

All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.

Key Features

  • CSV ↔ JSON conversion powered by PapaParse, with pretty-printed 2-space JSON output
  • HTML table extractor: paste any <table> markup and get clean JSON or CSV, with automatic header detection
  • XML formatter and minifier with well-formedness validation and clear parser error messages
  • YAML ↔ JSON conversion with inline error reporting for malformed input
  • Best-effort SQL formatter that uppercases keywords, breaks out clauses, and indents SELECT columns
  • Markdown table generator with an editable rows × columns grid, per-column alignment, and add/remove controls
  • Optional CSV/TSV paste-to-prefill for the Markdown table grid
  • 100% client-side — no uploads, no server processing, works offline

About Data Format Studio

Developers and data analysts constantly need to move data between formats — turning a spreadsheet export into JSON for an API, pasting an HTML table from a webpage into a spreadsheet, cleaning up a minified XML config file, or writing a Markdown table for documentation. Each of these is a small, common task, but juggling six different single-purpose tools (or writing one-off scripts) adds friction to everyday work.

Data Format Studio bundles six of the most common data-wrangling tasks into a single tool with a consistent interface: CSV ↔ JSON conversion, HTML table extraction to JSON or CSV, an XML formatter and well-formedness validator, YAML ↔ JSON conversion, a SQL query beautifier, and a Markdown table generator with an editable grid (with optional CSV/TSV paste-to-prefill). Switch between them instantly with the pill bar — no page reloads, no separate tools to hunt for.

Every conversion happens entirely client-side using your browser's built-in parsing APIs (DOMParser for HTML/XML) plus the bundled papaparse and yaml libraries — your data, config files, and queries never leave your device or touch a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Every conversion — CSV, JSON, HTML, XML, YAML, SQL, and Markdown — runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is ever sent to a server.

The SQL formatter is a best-effort beautifier built with pattern matching and keyword detection — it is not a full SQL parser. It handles common SELECT/INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE queries with JOINs, WHERE clauses, and GROUP BY/ORDER BY well, but unusual syntax, deeply nested subqueries, or vendor-specific extensions may not format perfectly.

If the pasted HTML has a <thead> row or a first row made entirely of <th> cells, those header labels become the JSON object keys. Otherwise, the tool falls back to outputting an array of arrays (one array per row) since there's no header to key off of.

The tool validates before formatting and shows a clear, specific error message (via the parser's own error output) instead of crashing or producing garbage output — you'll see exactly what's wrong so you can fix it.

Yes. In the Markdown Table Generator mode, paste CSV or TSV data into the small paste box and click "Prefill Grid" — it populates the editable grid automatically, which you can then tweak before generating the final Markdown.
